Instagram Reels and TikTok videos both have the ability to help you reach your target audience and go viral unexpectedly. So, which social media medium is better when trying to gain more exposure, visibility, and new engagement?
Before we get to the answer to that question, let’s break down Instagram Reels and TikTok. Both platforms allow users to create, edit and then share short video content. They also both offer a variety of filters, effects, and music options.
So to answer the Reels versus TikTok question…According to a recent article published by Hootsuite, TikTok is the clear winner. As it seems, it looks like TikTok videos are more likely to be seen than an Instagram Reel. According to the Hootsuite experiment, the exact same content posted on Reels versus TikTok only got two views on Instagram and around 450 views on TikTok! That’s a big difference. It seems TikTok pushes out content to new users far better than Instagram does.

However, even with all of this being said, if you have a large following full of engaged users on Instagram your video might perform better there than TikTok. It really depends on where your audience lives and in turn where your target market spends their time.
